Gender and Sport
WMST 177 SP
This course examines the comparisons and contrasts of men and women in sport. Concentration is directed to historical, philosophical, psychosocial, and biophysical aspects in a variety of sport environments. Topics
include
intercollegiate athletics, Olympic competition, youth sports, professional sports, global issues of a gender related nature, gender-equity issues, effects of the Title IX Education Amendment on American sports, violence
in
sports, homophobia in sports, cross-gender coaching, eating disorders and athletes, etc.
