The Supernatural in the Russian Short Story

The German supernatural tradition had an important effect on the beginnings of Russian prose. We will follow its traces in Pushkin's 'Undertaker', Tatyana's dream in 'Eugene Onegin', Lermontov's 'Taman', Gogol's 'Nose', and 'Overcoat', with the help of some of Zhukovsky's ballads and TALES of E.T.A. Hoffmann.

In Russian; reading load to be tailored to each student's level.
