Science of the Person: Experimental Psychology in the 20th Century

Reviews the scientific projects to know the psychological nature of personhood. The course examines the development of scientific techniques and instruments, the creation of theories of human kinds, and the cultural context in which these projects have been undertaken over the last century. Topics include studies of consciousness, behaviorism, social psychology, cognitive science, personality studies and intelligence testing.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One exam, short papers, research paper.

Admission by prerequisites or permission of the instructor.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
