Multiculturalism and Oppression
PHIL 252 FA

This course will deal with the problems basically liberal societies face when confronted with illiberal societies.

MAJOR READINGS

Work by leading contemporary political philosophers and theorists (e.g., John Rawls, Michael Sandel, Amartya Sen, Joseph Raz, Jeremy Waldron, Susan Okin, Martha Nussbaum)

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Short weekly commentaries and a major paper.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
