Philosophy and Cultural Diversity
PHIL 111 FA

This course is intended as a first course in philosophy. It will focus on issues that arise when different cultures come into contact, such as relativism, pluralism, multiculturalism, and the nature of personal identity.

MAJOR READINGS

Works in philosophy and political theory which address issues of relativism, pluralism, multiculturalism, and the nature of personal identity.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Multiple short papers and various writing exercises.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

To gain admission to this course, students must simultaneously enroll in HIST251, section 2. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
