Jazz Improvisation Performance
MUSC 456 SP
In this extension of MUSC210, all materials previously explored will be applied to instruments in a workshop setting. Intensive practice and listening are required.
MAJOR READINGS
JAZZ IMPROVISATION, by David Baker, as well as many excerpts from various methods and compositions.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Performance expectations of all materials are on a consistently high level.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students must complete MUSC386, FUNDAMENTALS OF JAZZ IMPROVISATION, or equivalent experience. No beginners. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior
to the first class, they will be
dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
