Private Music Lessons for Non-Music Majors
MUSC 405 FA

Private instrumental and vocal lessons meet for one hour, on a weekly basis, at a regularly scheduled time. Students contract to take 12 lessons. Each instructor sets his or her criteria for accepting students. Only returning students who have previously taken private lessons may preregister for this course with a Permission of Instructor Form. All students new to the Private Lessons Program must audition September 3, 2002 through September 6, 2002, and register during the drop-add period. (Audition information and schedules will be posted in the Music Department Lobby in August). Private Lessons will begin the week of September 9, 2002. When students are accepted into the Private Lessons Program, they become liable for the additional cost of lessons, which will be billed through the Student Accounts Office as follows:

Private Lessons Teachers $735.00 for 12 one hour lessons
Please check with the Private Lesson Coordinator for the availability of Graduate Student Teachers or Undergraduate Student Teachers for Private Music Lessons. The fees for these lessons are also billed through the Student Accounts Office.

Private lessons begin Monday, September 9, 2002. If this course is not dropped by the end of the drop-add period, students will be charged the full course fee. Financial support, for qualified students, may be available for lessons after the student completes one semester of lessons. Financial support applications may be obtained in the Music Department Office. All applications must be returned by Thursday, September 12, 2002.

Examinations and Assignments:
Requirements are set by each individual instructor. This course requires 12 one-hour lessons per semester.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
To schedule the lesson time all students must submit the Lesson Schedule Form, obtained in the Music Office, to their teachers by Friday, September 6, 2002. Private Lessons is a permission-of-instructor course; however, only returning students may preregister. All new students must audition and register during the drop-add period. Students must pay lesson fees in addition to University tuition. This course may be repeated for credit. This course is not open to junior and senior Music majors.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
