Multi-Dimensional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a widely used technique in molecular biology, chemistry and biochemistry. This course presents basic principles and experimental methods in NMR. Description of most NMR
experiments
is based on the spin product operator formalism. Two-, three-, and four-dimensional NMR experiments useful for chemical and biochemical structure determination are emphasized.

Two problem sets. One midterm exam. One final exam.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Basic knowledge in linear algebra and quantum mechanism will be assumed. PHYS214 (or equivalent) and MATH221 (or equivalent) are required.
This course will be offered in the second half of the spring semester.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
