In this introduction to basic concepts in immunology, particular emphasis will be given to the genetic basis for specificity and diversity of the antibody and cellular immune responses. Cellular and antibody responses in health and disease will be addressed.

Primarily a course for juniors and seniors. Students who intend to take this course and the CHEM251, 252 sequence concurrently may enroll in this course with a prerequisite override form.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
