Abstract Algebra: Groups, Rings and Fields

An introduction to abstract algebra: groups, rings, fields. Development of fundamental properties of those algebraic structures that are important throughout mathematics.

One or two tests, weekly problem sets, a final.

Students should already have taken MATH221 or MATH223.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
