Discrete Mathematics
MATH 228 FA

An introduction to discrete mathematical processes. Topics will include the following: mathematical induction, with applications; set theory; number theory; counting techniques.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two or three hour exams, 1 three-hour final exam; frequent homework.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

PREREQUISITES: Willingness to accept and to use abstraction in mathematics. Students should already have taken MATH221 or MATH223.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
