Academic Year 2002/2003

Calculus I, Part I
MATH 121 FA

(Students who have successfully completed a high school calculus course of approximately one year should choose among MATH121, MATH122, MATH221, MATH222, and MATH223. An AP score of 4 or better should indicate a preference for one of the 200 level courses.) MATH121 is designed for students who have completed a high school calculus course of approximately one year and who might pursue study in an area for which calculus is an essential tool. This course is a deeper and broader study of calculus than MATH117; theoretical aspects are not the main focus but will not be avoided. The course will, together with MATH122, treat limits, derivatives, and integrals; the calculus of exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions; techniques of integration; plane analytic geometry; various applications of calculus; sequences and series, including power series and intervals of convergence.
