An introduction to Italian culture and society since 1945, this course combines films and readings that illustrate such themes as the impact of the Second World War on political, social, and economic life; the plight of Italian Jews; and the changing relations between the sexes. It includes texts by Sciascia, Calvino, Ginzburg and others; films by such directors as DeSica, Fellini and Rossellini.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
