American Jewish History
HIST 332 FA
This course will begin with a survey text on the history of Jews in the U.S. from the 17th century to recent times and a survey of Jews in France since the Revolution of 1789 for comparison. We will then concentrate on
several aspects of the subject--immigrations, political radicalism, intellectuals, and Zionism.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Four five-page essays

Admission by interview. Students with knowledge of 20th century European or U.S. history or Judaism. I would hope to have not only Jewish students but others as well. Unless preregistered students attend the first
class meeting or communicate
directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
