Modern Africa from Colonial Conquest to the Present
HIST 227 SP

This course surveys the history of Africa from the eve of colonial conquest to the post independence period. The pre-conquest relationship between Europe and Africa, the European scramble, the colonial economy, the rise of nationalism and post-colonial politics are examined through primary sources, articles and novels.
