Hebrew Literature
HEBR 211 SP

This seminar will survey contemporary Hebrew poetry and prose with emphasis on aspects of socio-historical issues and the ways in which modern Hebrew literature enriches and brings deeper understanding of collective Jewish experiences and detects and shapes the reality of modern Israel. This course will seek to increase the fluency and complexity of the students' expression and comprehension and generate a greater appreciation of the uniqueness of the language.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two short papers, two tests, and weekly written assignments. Regular participation in class discussions is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Hebrew 202 is a prerequisite. If students have not taken Hebrew 202 they may take Hebrew 211 with the permission of the instructor.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
