Herodotus and Thucydides

This is a reading course in the two greatest Greek historians, with special emphasis on the intellectual and cultural context of the origins of historical writing.

MAJOR READINGS

Selected readings from Herodotus and Thucydides in Greek. Contemporary critical essays.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
