Russian Politics
GOVT 274 SP

After a brief review of the character of the Soviet political and economic system, the course moves on to analyze the reasons for the collapse of the USSR. In the second half we examine the challenges facing President Putin, and politics and economics of the new states that have emerged in the former Soviet Union.

"Students who wish to be eligible to register for the course during Drop/Add should place themselves on the wait list during on-line registration. Wait list preference rankings will be one factor I will consider in making Drop/Add period registration decisions."
