The Judicial Process
GOVT 205 FA

This course will take a critical look at the judicial system and the process of the administration of justice. The course will focus on the civil justice system, but will also include discussion of issues arising in the criminal justice for contrast and comparison. The course will consider the fundamental nature of law, the effectiveness of the legal process, legal education and the bar, the impact of law on society and the relationship of law and politics. It is an introductory level course.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Midterm and final exams. One short Court Observation paper. Class participation is a significant part of the grade.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
