From Autobiography to Autofiction
FREN 255 SP
The course offers a study of the trends of autobiographical discourse in France from 1930 to the present. Particular attention will be given to questions of gender, memory and history that are inherent in literary
self-representation.
The course will include, among others, works by Simone de Beauvoir, Roland Barthes, Marguerite Duras, Jean-Paul Sartre, Andre Breton, as well as critical studies by Philippe Lejeune, Serge Doubrovsky, Julia Kristeva, to
name a few.
