Introduction to French Literature & Culture I: 12th-18th Centuries
FREN 223 SP

This course provides an introduction to French literature and culture from the Middle Ages to the 18th-century. It encourages critical reflection on historical changes in French literature, society and politics by focusing on a key theme for each of the four periods studied (chivalry for the Middle Ages, the carnaval for the Renaissance, the court of Versailles for the 17th century, and the revolution for the 18th century).
