Elements of Fiction Writing
ENGL 170 SP
A class introducing the elements for writing novels and short stories: drafting, revision, character, voice, plot, dialogue, tone, theme, setting and style. Taught in exercises, readings and workshop.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Submit a 3-5 page writing sample of whatever you consider an exemplary representation of your writing (fiction, nonfiction, poetry). If you are submitting an excerpts of something longer, please include a paragraph
describing the larger piece. Send to
Sheila Kelleher at the English Department, 285 Court Street, Middletown, CT 06459-0100 by noon on January 16, 2003.
This is a drop/add course. Class list will be posted by the first day of class.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
