This course offers practice in a variety of nonfiction forms, including the narrative essay, profile, and memoir.

MAJOR READINGS

Nonfiction by such writers as Annie Dillard, Joan Didion, William Finnegan, Philip Gourevitch, George Orwell, Tim O'Brien, Michael Ondaatje, and Chang-rae Lee.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly writing assignments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Admission by class year: Seniors first, then juniors. Freshman are excluded. No writing sample required. Apply during the preregistration period using the brief form available at A. Greene's office, 279 Court St., Room 203.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
