Soviet Empire in East Europe II
CSS 428 SP

This tutorial concerns Eastern Europe from the end of German domination in 1945 to the end of the Soviet Empire in 1989 and the end of the Soviet Union itself in 1991. The main subject is the relationship between the ruling Communist systems and the people in the different countries, and how this changed across the decades of the Cold War. Emphasis is on developments in the Soviet satellite states of Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary; the independent Communist state of Yugoslavia; and the Soviet Union itself.
