This course includes readings in a variety of Chinese texts from the fields of literature and intellectual history. Course will be conducted entirely in Chinese.

Quizzes and homework emphasizing translation.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students who have not taken CHIN218 may be required to take a placement exam. This course may be repeated by students who have already taken CHIN221 or CHIN222, as readings will be changed.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
