Graphic Design
ARST 443 SP
This course explores the relationship between text and image for the general purpose of communication through the solving of a series of practical and theoretical problems. Some knowledge of QuarkXpress and Adobe
Photoshop
would be useful. ARST 442 (Typography), while not a firm prerequisite, provides helpful background.
MAJOR READINGS
QUARKXPRESS 4 FOR MACINTOSH: VISUAL QUICKSTART GUIDE by Elaine Weinmann
Handouts and readings will also be used.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
A series of graphic design problems, a poster assignment, and a multi-page final project.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
