Painting II
ARST 440 SP
This course presents a discussion of varying formal and conceptual approaches to visual imagery and issues in contemporary painting. Emphasis on color, composition and paint manipulation continues toward the development
of a personal vision. Class work includes further work from observation as well as projects initiated by the students, individual and group critiques, and museum and gallery trips.
MAJOR READINGS
A list of suggested readings will be distributed.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Regular assignments and final portfolio. Ten hours of independent studio work is required each week throughout the semester. Regular in-class individual and group critiques.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Admission to the course is by portfolio review only. Times and dates of interviews will be posted outside art studio and available by contacting the department office. A list of students accepted into the course will
be posted the following day. The
permission of instructor forms will be ready at that time. Permission of Instructor forms must be picked up the following day. Portfolios should contain no more than five paintings and five recent works on paper.
Include NAME, BOX #, PHONE #, YEAR OF
GRADUATION & MAJOR. Materials fee: $100.00.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
