Composition, Design and Facture in the Western Tradition
ARHA 230 FA
This survey of post-Renaissance painting and sculpture is intended to bridge the sometimes-divergent aims of art historians and artists. The course will consist of concentrated segments on individual artists from
Raphael
to the present. Intensive, seminar-style discussions will concentrate on uniting the art historian's concern with scholarship, argument, and evidence with the artist's concern with MAKING.
