Cinema, Culture, and Politics in India
ANTH 288 SP
This course will explore the links between cinema, political culture, and society in India. Concentrating on Bengali and Hindi films and taking a broadly historical and symbolic interpretive approach to Indian culture,
we
shall explore Indian and comparative esthetics; economic and social contexts of film production; regional, alternative, and popular cinemas.

One social science and/or one cinema course LAB FEE OF $45.00 Tuesday evening screenings of films.
