A Playwright's Workshop - Great Experiments in Theatre
THEA299 SP
This course will consist of in-class writing through exercises, in-class reading of student work, weekly writing assignments, and close reading and discussion of work by other playwrights.

See SCRIPT ANALYSIS reading list--these texts should be completecd before class begins. Plays to be announced.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
The course will culminate in the writing of a one-act play which will be considered for a festival of staged readings through collaborative work with student actors and directors. Grading will be based on appropriate
completion of weekly writing
assignments, attendance, class participation and the final project.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Writing sample: 5 pages of a play. Interview with course instructor. Strongly suggest having taken Script Analysis.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
