Seminar in Sociology: Interpreting America
SOC305 FA
The purpose of the seminar is to help senior sociology majors develop their senior essay projects by introducing them to the conceptual challenges and practical problems of sociological research. To this end, invited
faculty speakers will discuss their
research. The seminar meetings will be devoted primarily to helping students advance their own research projects.
MAJOR READINGS

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly research explorations plus literature review, research proposal, research project (multiple drafts), oral presentation, regular participation and perfect attendance. The final paper will be a completed senior
essay.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students must be Sociology majors working on senior essays, no other majors will be accepted. Attendance is required.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
