This course is designed to allow students to conduct advanced research in perception and attention and to form part of an active research group. Students might undertake either a semester-long project or the completion/follow-up of a research program begun in Research Methods and techniques in Perception. The lab group will meet weekly to discuss assigned common readings and to give updates on the various projects. Readings and projects will represent a cognitive neuroscience approach to perception and attention; special emphasis will be placed on the physiological foundations of cognitive phenomena. Other topics will include computer simulation and simulations of neuropsychological deficits. This course would accommodate honors students, potential honors students, M.A. students and others considering graduate study in experimental psychology.
