HUMAN MOTIVATION
PSYC355 SP

This course examines major theories and research in human motivation--why people behave the way they do. Special emphasis will be given to issues regarding achievement motivation, affiliation/intimacy motivation, power motivation, and intrinsic motivation. We will consider how diferent motives affect psychological well-being, emotions, values, and behavior.

MAJOR READINGS

Papers and book chapters by motivation theorists and researchers such as N. Brody, M. Csikszentmihalyi, E. Deci, D. McAdams, D.C. McClelland, R. Ryan, A. Stewart, W. Weiner, D. Winter etc.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Several papers and class presentations.
