This seminar/discussion course will examine scientific research findings on the neural basis for human language and its relation to other specialized communication systems. Topics will include the evolutionary and neural specialization of vocal communication systems in infrahuman animals; neuropsychological aspects of language development; bilingualism and representation of language in the brain; and other relevant topics.
