This lecture-discussion course is devoted to left-wing Hegelianism during the 1830s and 40s, in which an increasingly radical critique of religion developed and passed over into theories of social revolution and cultural transformation, represented in Marx and Nietzsche. Readings in Hegel, D.F. Strauss, Bruno Bauer, Ludwig Feuerbach, Karl Marx, Max Stirner, Soren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
