This survey course studies the contributions of women to the discipline of music/music science in the last two thousand years. This course seeks to examine music evolution from a world culture perspective that focuses on the unique reality dynamics of trans European/African restructural music making (thinking) and the role women have played in shaping present-day music science. The course will also attempt to intergrate and expose the student to the new materials on women masters--in this time period as well as from the past.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One midterm paper, one final paper and a listening examination.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
