This course is intended to give a thorough grounding in the writing of harmony and basic counterpoint of the common practice period--the 18th century. Extensive daily chorale writing exercises will include two, three, then center on four-parts. Ear training and dictation skills will be emphasized, and considerable time in Media Lab is assigned to work on these.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
