Topics in the Cell Cycle
MB&B517 FA

This course deals with recent advancements concerning the cellular and molecular biology of the cell cycle. It will cover a broad range of topics that are related to the different metabolic and regulatory pathways that are invloved in cell division. We will contrast and compare elements of these pathways in eukaryotic systems ranging from yeast to human cells. Some of the topicsto be discussed include: cyclin-dependent kinases as cell regulators, transcriptional control of cell cycle genes, DNA replication and DNA damage checkpoints, cell-division-cycle mutants in yeast, oncogenes, tumor suppressors and diseases of cell proliferation. This is a half semester course and will run the second half of the Fall semester.
