This course will attempt to give some insight into the ways that eukaryotic cells regulate gene expression. The emphasis for the first half of the course will be on transcriptional control and the role of transcription factors. The second half will exphasize mechanisms involved in RNA modification and translation. Although the focus will be on original research papers and on the experimental approaches that are used, an attempt to formulate some generalization will be made.
