This course will cover a range of molecular approaches toward understanding the process of cell proliferation. We will discuss how the cell division cycle is executed and regulated in systems from yeast to humans. The topics to be discussed will include cell-division-cycle mutants in yeast, cyclin-dependent kinases as cell-cycle regulators, DNA replication and DNA damage checkpoints, and oncogenes and tumor suppressors.
