Dynamical Systems
MATH527 SP

An introduction to dynamical systems via the study of (1) Interation of measure preserving transformations on a measure space. Topics will include entropy and information, symbolic representation of ergodic transformations, K-automorphisms and Bernoulli shifts. (2) Iteration of continuous self maps of compact metric spaces. Topics will include maps of the interval and circle, symbolic dynamics and entropy. (3) Iteration of homeomorphisms of compact metric spaces. Topics will include recurrence, asymptoticity, expansiveness, canonical coordinates and symbolic dynamics.
