Sophomore Seminar: The Political Novel, 1700-1900
HIST266 SP
Eighteenth- and 19th-century attitudes toward politics, economics, society, and history will be examined from novels that directly critique an existing society, as well as from those that present an alternative,
sometimes fantastic, reality. All
students not in COL must take this course for a letter grade.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Reading notes on each novel and three papers.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
One novel will be read each week. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a
completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
