The Rise and Fall of the Ottoman Empire: 1280-1922
HIST228 SP

This course is a historical survey of Islam's most successful Empire. The Ottoman Empire will serve as a model for premodern Islamic states, and the role of Islam in its political, social, and economic institutions will be emphasized, as well as Ottoman influences on the formation of modern Europe and the Middle East.
