This course is an analysis of the existing system and unit level theories of international politics. We will examine both broad-gauge IR theories (realism, liberalism, social constuctivism/idealism), as well as more situation-specific theories (democratic peace, nationalism, theories of military coercion, etc.) Some knowledge of international issues and of international history required. Most students will be government majors concentrating in international politics.
