The Cold War
GOVT273 SP

This course will analyze the 40 year rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union which brought the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation. Topics to be covered include the logic of nuclear deterrence; superpower competition for client states in the Third World; and the way that the Cold War structured the economies, political systems and ideological outlook of the two sides.
