Chinese Political Economy

This course is designed as a survey course for sophomores and juniors. It will focus on the political economy of contemporary China, with emphasis on the past 20 years of post-Mao reforms. Key topics will include zation, the allocation of financial and fiscal resources, trade, foreign investment, corruption, and inequality. As this is a course in political economy, we will discuss the interaction between economic and political change. In addition, we will compare the case of China with other countries in transition
