Postwar German Women Writers and Directors

The course will examine the portrayals of women's experiences in postwar prose, poetry and film by women writers and directors in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Topics will include reflections on Nazi Germany, woman hating, the quest for identity, lesbian lives, older women, women working, women and the environment, African German women, and feminist language/theory/research.
