In this course significant novels and novellas by Thomas Mann, Rainer Maria Rilke, Hermann Hesse, Max Frisch, Christa Wolf, and Guenter Grass will be carefully read and discussed. Particular attention will be paid to social and political issues and to narrative strategies.
