Elementary German
GERM101 FA

Required Sequence: GERM101 & GERM102

This is the first part of a two-semester course designed to develop the basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students may expect to acquire: 1) the ability to speak and understand simple German; 2) an understanding of German grammar; 3) the capacity to read nontechnical texts; and 4) insight into German culture. Individual language-laboratory work is required. Five class meetings per week. Students have a choice on Tuesday and Thursday between classes at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Because the computerized course registration system will not schedule an apparent time conflict, schedule adjustments must be made during the Drop/Add period.
