Maigret and the French Detective Novel

Georges Simenon is the best-selling French-language author of all time and Maigret, the French equivalent of Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot, is the best known of his creations. Students will study several of these novels as an introduction to important aspects of contemporary French life and ways of thinking.
